Embroidery Designs FAQs
What is the difference between embroidery and screen-printing? Embroidery is decoration done with thread. Embroidery may be more desirable for a textured, highly detailed look. Embroidery design can also be used with raised foam designs. Screen printing is a form of stenciling in which ink is applied directly to the garment through a screen. Screen printing is favored where large, flat areas of color or design are desired. Both processes (embroidery and screen printing) can be done in a myriad of colors and produce a high-quality image that can be duplicated many times. For contract embroidery, charges are based on the number of stitches and the number of locations to be sewn. For contract screen printing, charges are based on the number of colors used. (On dark garments, we can use a maximum of seven colors, due to the necessity of using a white underlay for printing.) For specific pricing on screen printing and embroidery, see our contract embroidery pricing charts.
