Screen-print designs FAQs
What is the difference between screen printing and embroidery? Screen printing (formerly known as silkscreening) is a form of stenciling in which ink is applied directly to the garment through a screen. Screen printing is favored where large, flat areas of color or design are desired. Embroidery is decoration done with thread. Embroidery may be more desirable for a more textured, detailed look. Both processes (screen printing and embroidery) can be done in a myriad of colors and produce a high-quality image that can be duplicated many times. For contract screen printing, charges are based on the number of colors used. (On dark garments, we can use a maximum of seven colors, due to the necessity of using a white underlay for printing.) For contract embroidery, charges are based on the number of stitches and the number of locations to be sewn. What is the turn-around time for screen printing? The normal production time for screen printing at Something Unique is two weeks. For quantities of more than 2,500 screen-printed pieces, you should allow 3 weeks for delivery.
How can I be sure the finished screen-printed design will meet my expectations? Since 1988, Something Unique’s staff of 35 experienced professionals has been providing customers throughout western Iowa with exceptional screen-printing services. Our satisfied customers include corporations, resorts, schools, booster clubs, college bookstores, retail stores, gift shops and organizations. Customers are involved in the selection and creative process. To ensure that the finished screen-printed product will meet your expectations, Something Unique provides a high-quality proof of the final design before entering production. The screen-print design proof can be sent via email or presented to you in-person at our Denison, Iowa, store. Something Unique does not start production on any order until customer approval has been given.
Can I provide original artwork for a screen-printed design? Although we offer an extensive selection of logos and dens for sigscreen prints, we also welcome original designs, or we can work with you to create one. For teams, clubs, big events, family reunions, hobby groups, we’ll help you get your game on with fresh, creative, stand-out graphic designs.
Can I request a screen-print quote online? There are two ways to request a quote online for a screen-print design. If you know the Design Stock ID of the design you want, you can use the Quick Quote Form. If you do not know the Design Stock ID, you can use the Browsing Quote Form while you are browsing our stock design library. Once you enter your information on either form, you will receive your screen-print quote in 48 hours. You can always call or e-mail us to get a quote on screenprinting designs.
